Mike Trout Out 6-8 Weeks - Thumb

Mike Trout has been placed on the disabled list for the first time in his career with a torn ligament in his left thumb.  Tout suffered this injury sliding head first into second base and has opted for surgery to repair his UCL.

Trout was looking for his 2nd straight MVP title, despite the Angels struggles:
  • 16 home runs trails only Aaron Judge (17)
  • .470 wOBA was the best among healthy players (Freddie Freeman .489 wOBA)
  • 12th in the MLB with 36 RBI (4th in AL)
Cameron Maybin shifts to CF now and we will see if he can continue to swing a hot bat now with the added pressure of a new defensive position.  Maybin has struggled over the last 7 days, but in May, he hit .270 with 7 doubles and two home runs, drawing 21 walks.  His .414 OBP led to 10 stolen bases this month.

Eric Young Jr. played RF on Monday and we should see him and Ben Revere splitting time out there.  The Angels could also consider bringing back C.J. Cron from the minors.

Domingo Santana was the most added OF on Yahoo over the past 24 hours.  The Brewers OF has looked great in May, hitting .341 with 4 doubles and three of his 8 HRs.  He owns the 12th best BB% among OF and his 28 RBI is good for top 20 at the position.

Melky Cabrera is another player to consider adding.  His season totals don't look great but he is heating up, with four HRs this past week.  Melky is capable of giving you 30+ doubles and 70+ RBI come September!
