How To Stack The Patriots/Saints Game - DraftKings

Tom Brady and Drew Brees might be nearing the end of their careers, but they are still two of the most feared QBs in the NFL.  Both the Patriots and the Saints had terrible starts to the 2017 NFL season but a matchup with each other could help gets things clicking offensively for both teams.  Nobody, including us, things the Saints can beat the Patriots despite the fact that this game is in New Orleans.  That being said, all we care about is lighting up the scoreboard, and that is exactly what everyone expect will happen on Sunday.

With Tom Brady at QB

Starting with a defense to increase our remaining per player, we have a couple options in week 2.  Seahawks vs 49ers, Raiders vs Jets & Cardinals @ Colts.  Arizona is the most expensive, $100 more than Seattle, while Oakland can save you $600, so lets roll with them.

Next, lets pair up our QB with a WR/TE from his team.  Rob Gronkowski and Brandin Cooks are the two best options.  Gronk is a matchup nightmare for a great defense, which the Saints are not.  They did limit Kyle Rudolph to just 3 catches (3 targets) and 31 yards but the Vikings TE did score a TD.  Cooks should have no trouble getting open all night and hopefully this week won't have to worry about defensive pass interference being the reason he is limited to 88 yards on 3 receptions.
Before we move forward, the Patriots could not handle the Chiefs speed last week - both Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill.  Let’s add one more player from this game, Saints WR Ted Ginn ($4,800), to our stack as the over/under is 56!

Projections love Broncos RB C.J. Anderson at home against the Cowboys.  At $4.7k, he is right at our remaining average so lets add him and then dive deep for a super value play for our 2nd RB.

We can jump on the hype train and add Bears RB Tarik Cohen for $4.1k, but his ownership is going to be sky high after last weeks game.  If you are creating this lineup for a cash game, go ahead and play him, but we are trying to win a GPP here!

At $3.9k, Duke Johnson is a guy I love, despite going up against a very good Ravens defense, in Baltimore.  He did not take one snap as a RB last week, but that should change.  Even if it doesn't, you are drafting Johnson because DraftKings is a full point per reception!
Now with $10.1k left for a third WR and our FLEX, lets see how we can save money at the WR position to give us the most options at FLEX with our remaining cash.  Both Jaguars WRs, Allen Hurns & Marqise Lee are priced below $4k - if you are willing to take a chance, pick one, but we won’t be doing that here.

With an extra week of rest, DeSean Jackson could be a great option at $4.9k against a Bears defense that does a great job shutting down WR1s (Mike Evans).  Mohamed Sanu saw four more targets than Julio Jones last week.  The Bucs had an extra week to gameplan for the Bears and Jackson is a home run hitter in DFS.

That leaves us with $5.2k to fill our FLEX.  We like to let you guys finalize your rosters - here are what the projections say:

With Drew Brees at QB

New Orleans was stifled by the Minnesota Vikings defense in week 1 on the road.  Drew Brees returns home to the Superdome, where he puts up monster numbers.  From 2014-16, Brees averaged 38 more yards per game, and his 16 game pace put him at 39 TDs at home vs 30 on the road.

As mentioned above, the Patriots struggled against the speed of the Chiefs, so that makes Ginn the WR to play, allowing you to fade Michael Thomas.  With Willie Snead still suspended, TE Coby Fleener is the biggest benefactor and caught 5 of six targets includes a TD in week 1.  He will also be in our lineup.

We will again plug the Raiders in at defense.

With $6,180 remaining per player, lets go spend some money on a RB.  Marshawn Lynch at $6k (vs Jets) is a nice option.  Lynch saw 18 carries and gained 76 yards in his return to the NFL.  The Jets just allowed 152 rushing yards to the Buffalo Bills in week 1.

With a slight bump in money remaining, you can spend up on Leonard Fournette ($6.5k) who had a really nice debut or save some cash and buy Ty Montgomery ($5.8k).  Montgomery has a great matchup, despite playing the Falcons.  Atlanta just allowed the Bears backfield to catch 11 of 17 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown.  Jordan Howard & Tarik Cohen also rushed for 125 yards and a score.

Let's roll with the Packers RB.

We now have $6.3k per player with 2 WR and the FLEX left to fill.  Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs are both available for just under that price tag!  By selecting those WRs, we are left with $6,800 to fill in the FLEX spot.
