2018 NFL Mock Draft - Top 5 Picks

If you are here to see where Lamar Jackson is going, come back later in the season. I am not saying that Jackson can't make it in the NFL but he is not one of the top 3 QB prospects possibly entering the 2018 NFL Draft.

San Francisco 49ers - Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State

  • Trading for Jimmy Garoppolo at the trade deadline helped clarify what they will do on the first night of the NFL Draft.  Saquon Barkley is an Ezekiel Elliott type prospect and Carlos Hyde is about to become a free agent.  Maybe a team trying to jump the Browns and draft a QB will make them an offer they can't refuse, acquiring more picks, but giving up the security of Barkley.
Quickness/Agility: You don’t run a 4.33 40 with top end speed alone, you need tremendous acceleration, and Barkley has that in spades. In fact, I would say that his quickness/agility is indeed his top trait. Barkley is and is going to be, a big play just waiting to happen with his ability to get to the edge, and then simply win a foot race down the sideline. Linebackers are often left dazed and confused as to how he got around them. This is just part of what makes him so much fun to watch. - Dynasty Football Factory

Cleveland Browns - Josh Rosen, QB UCLA

  • I hate the idea of trading up for DeShone Kizer last year and then spending the #2 pick in the draft the following year to draft another QB.  But what are the Browns to do, pass on ANOTHER "Franchise QB"?  They did that two years ago with Carson Wentz & last year with Deshaun Watson.

New York Giants - Mike McGlinchey, OT Notre Dame

  • It won't matter who the Giants QB is if they can't protect him and can't establish a ground game.  I completely understand why mock drafts will have New York taking Sam Darnold (if he leaves USC) or Josh Allen, but I think the Giants are a playoff team with Odell Beckham healthy and an improved offensive line.  Having a replacement plan for Eli Manning seems more necessary now than ever, but I can see the Giants front office going all in for one more trip to the Super Bowl while Manning is still under center.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Bradley Chubb, DE NC State

  • Chubb is one of the best against the run and one of the better pass rushers in college football.  The Bucs have a league worst 9 sacks this season and rank in the bottom half against the run.

Indianapolis Colts - Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB Alabama

  • No defense in the NFL has allowed more passing yards than the Colts secondary.  Adding Fitzpatrick to last years selections of Malik Hooker and Quincy Wilson would soften the blow of veteran Vontae Davis walking in free agency.
