Monster Day For A Ray

On Thursday it was the Ben Zobrist show, and fans were lucky because they got a double dose as the Rays played a day/night double header against the Minnesota Twins.  The Rays absolutely dominated this double header but it was all about Zobrist.  In game one the Rays beat the twins 15-3, in which Zobrist went 4 for 6 with 8 rbi and 2 runs scored.  He hit a 3-run homer as well as doubling twice and singling in the game.  Zobrist had rbi's on all 4 of his hits:
  • RBI single in the 1st
  • 3-run homer in the 6th
  • 2-run double in the 7th
  • 2-run double in the 9th
It could not have been a better day for Zobrist to play a double header as his bat was still on fire.  In game two the Rays won again, beating the Twins 6-1.  Zobrist went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 rbi.  He homered doubled and singled, once again falling a triple shy of a cycle in back to back game, in the same day.

For the day Ben Zobrist finished 7 for 10 with 10 rbi, 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, and 2 home runs.  He now leads the MLB with 25 rbi on the year and tied for 2nd with 7 home runs.  Zobrist raised his batting average 53 points in the day, as he was hitting just .205 coming in and left hitting .258.  I really hope none of you had this man on the bench for the double header, because those are just monster numbers that occasionally take a full fantasy teams to reach in a week.
