David Freese Breaks Hand

Cardinals third basemen David Freese was taken out of the game today after being hit by a pitch, which broke a bone in his hand.  Freese might need surgery to speed up his recovery, but all signs are pointing to him missing 4-6 weeks with the injury.

With infielder Nick Punto also being hurt, the Cards had a short bench, so Tony La Rusa had no choice but to move Pujols over to third for the rest of the game, inserting Mark Hamilton at first base.  It was the first time Pujols played third base in the majors since September 2002.
