QB Match-ups to Avoid

Matthew Stafford vs Seahawks - Things still have not gotten better for Matthew Stafford who just continues to struggle.  It might get even worse after losing veteran Nate Burleson for the year with a broken leg.  This week against the Seahawks he has to go up against a secondary where the cornerbacks Brandon Browner is 6'4 and Richard Sherman is 6'3.  Safties Kam Chancellor is 6'3 and Earl Thomas is 5'10.  So Seattle has a big, strong, physical secondary that should result in another mediocre performance for Stafford

Eli Manning @ Cowboys - Eli looked off all day against the Redskins until that beautifully thrown 77 yard bomb to Cruz to win the game.  He played and lost against the Cowboys to open the season and Eli went 21/32 for 213 yards and a TD.  I expect the Giants will run pretty often rather then challenge a great secondary.  Especially after seeing Bradshaw flip out, demanding to get the ball.  The Giants have had a great run game all season and it helps to have the depth that they have with Bradshaw, Brown and Wilson.  I don't expect a big game from Eli, Dallas is ranked 3rd against the pass.

Robert Griffin III @ Steelers - The Steelers defense has been very solid over the past 3 games, only giving up an average of 19 points.  Clearly this isn't the dominating Steelers defense we're so used to seeing over years but with a linebacker core of Lamar Woodley, Lawrence Timmons and James Harrison, I have a hard time believing RG3 is going to run all over them.  The Steelers are going to make RG3 beat them with his arm rather than his legs.  Pittsburgh ranks #2 in pass defense and #9 in rush defense.  They held Andy Dalton to 14/28 and 105 yards with a TD.  They also took AJ Green out of the game, limiting him to 1 catch for an 8 yard TD.

RB Match-ups to Avoid

Trent Richardson vs Chargers - Richardson is dealing with a rib injury and it held him out of the entire second half against the Colts. Aside from dealing with that injury, he's facing the Chargers defense who has given up the least amount of rushing yards in the NFL.  Keep away from Richardson this week.

Shonn Greene vs Dolphins - Greene has proved he does not run well against a good run defense. Pitt (11 for 23), SF (11 for 34), Hou (8 for 26) and he ran against the Dolphins in week 3 only racking up 40 yards on 19 carries.  Until he proves that he can burn any defense regardless of how good they are at stopping the run, you have to bench him.

Adrian Peterson vs Buccaneers - Tampa Bay is only allowing 76 rushing yards per game so far in 2012.  Adrian Peterson had a monster game last week against the Cardinals but I don't see that happening Thursday night against the Bucs.  The Bucs are only giving up 3.1 yards per carry and Peterson has only scored in 2 games this year.  Not looking like a great matchup for Peterson.

WR Match-ups to Avoid

DeSean Jackson vs Falcons - Due to Mike Vick's struggles, DeSean Jackson has been pretty much held in check this season.  Jackson has seen 9 targets in 5 straight games but only has 24 catches in that span.  Jackson only has 1 game with 100 yards and only has 1 TD on the season.  The deep ball connection between Vick and Jackson just isn't there.  If the deep ball isn't there then Jackson really is useless.  Until Vick and Jackson get on the same page keep Jackson on the bench if you have a better option.

Larry Fitzgerald vs 49ers - With Kevin Kolb out, John Skelton is back under center for the Cards and that is bad news for Fitzgerald owners.  Skelton has started two games and in those two games Fitz has 8 catches for 92 yards and 0 TDs.  Fitz has 3 TDs from Kolb.  Skelton is a short yardage guy who doesn't have a big arm.  Fitz is a deep ball receiver who benefits from a QB like Kolb with a big arm.  As long as Kolb is sidelined then Fitz will struggle to be a great fantasy player.

Brandon Lloyd @ Rams (In London) - The Patriots take on the Rams in London on Sunday and they are calling for rain. What else is new? It seems like every year the NFL plays in London its a rainy, muddy, sloppy mess of a game.  If this is the case then the Patriots might look to establish a good, steady run game, or look for short yardage receptions to Welker, Hernandez or Gronkowski.  Lloyd is a deep ball threat and if it's rainy conditions I don't expect Brady to be airing it out.  Lloyd saw 8 targets against the Jets but only caught one ball for 6 yards.  He was blanketed by Antonio Cromartie.  It wont be any easier as Lloyd will be guarded by Cortland Finnegan and we all know he can really frustrate receivers.  Don't expect Brady to look Lloyd's way too often.

TE Match-ups to Avoid

Kyle Rudolph vs Buccaneers - Uhhh after scoring 5 TDs in the last 5 games, Kyle Rudolph put up a big fat 0.  Christian Ponder targeted Rudolph 4 times but completed none of them.  Ponder only threw 58 yards and the Vikings still won.  After a game like that, I have lost a lot of trust in Rudolph and I'll need him to prove something this week before I can give him a spot on my starting roster.

Vernon Davis @ Cardinals  - Vernon Davis had 0 targets against the Seahawks on Thursday night after only having 3 catches on 5 targets the week before.  Defenses have figured out how to take Davis out of the 49ers gameplan and that is hurting fantasy owners.  The 49ers will have to make adjustments moving forawrd if they want their Pro Bowl TE to be more involved in the offense.  Until then, if you have another option at TE you might want to sit Davis.

Jermichael Finley vs Jaguars - Finley is useless.  I beg you not to start him. Actually please drop him. He does not deserve a spot on your roster.

DEF Match-ups to Avoid

Eagles vs Falcons - The Eagles defense will be playing for their new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles for the first time since firing Juan Castillo.  It won't be an easy task trying to contain Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez and Michael Turner.  Philly might play hard for Bowles but they still are playing the undefeated Falcons and I don't picture them shutting them down.

Broncos vs Saints - Denver's defense looked awful in the first half of the Chargers game two weeks ago but they pitched a shutout in the second half, scoring 2 TDs helping the Broncos to a huge comeback victory.  This week they face Drew Brees and a great Saints offense. They might pick Brees off once or twice but you have to expect a shootout between Brees and Manning.  The Broncos won't be able to slow the Saints offense down.
