Rockies Rock Craig Kimbrel

Since the Atlanta Braves called up young flame thrower Craig Kimbrel in 2010, he has saved 97 games while blowing just 11.  Last night the Colorado Rockies did what so few have done, score a run off Kimbrel.  With a two run lead in the 9th, Kimbrel came on to close the door and got the first batter to pop up.  He surrendered a double to Jonathon Herrera and then a single to Troy Tulowitzki who came in to pinch hit.  With runners on the corners, Kimbrel got a big strike out before Dexter Fowler hit a two out double scoring both runners and tying the game.  Kimbrel was then forced to intentionally walk Carlos Gonzalez before striking out Wilin Rosario to send the game to extra innings.  Yorvit Torrealba was the hero in the bottom of the 12th as the Rockies won with a walk off single.

The two teams combined for 25 hits, but Herrera (3) was the only batter with more than 2.

J.P. Arencibia hit his 6th double and 8th home run as the Blue Jays beat the Orioles.  Rajai Davis, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista also homered for the Jays.

Nate McLouth picked up 2 hits, walked twice, scored 3 times and drove in a run.  Chris Davis went 0-5 with 3 strike outs.

Casey Janssen earned his 6th save.

After an hour and 29 minute rain delay, the Reds & Cubs played a 1-0 game in which Mat Latos earned his 1st win of the season.  Latos scattered 4 hits over 7 innings punching out 4 and walking 1.  He beat Jeff Samardzija who is now 1-4.  He is the best 1-4 pitcher in baseball.  Todd Frazier hit a home run so far, the camera man couldn't even track it!

Alex Rios two run home run in the 5th put the White Sox up for good as Jose Quintana picked up win #2.  We really like Quintana going forward and suggest you add him!  Addison Reed saved his 6th game of the year.

Adam Dunn went 0-1 with a K and 3 BB

Stephen Strasburg gave up 3 runs to the Cardinals in the first inning and that is all they would need to beat the Nationals, who are now under .500.  Remember when I said Samardzija was the best 1-4 pitcher in baseball?  I lied, Strasburg is, but he is struggling at the moment.  He did go six innings of shutout ball after that first inning.  Jaime Garcia picked up win #2.

Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday each picked up 3 hits for St. Louis.

Brandon Laird, yes Gerald Laird's bro, went 3 for 4 yesterday with 2 doubles and home run driving in 4 runs for the Houston Astros.  Lucas Harrell picked up win #2 as the 'Stros beat the Mariners.

Ronny Cedeno picked up 3 hits and drove in 3 runs.  Matt Dominguez added 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Jon Lester walked 6 and gave up 3 runs but improved to 4-0 as the Red Sox beat up Brett Anderson and beat the A's 6-5.  Big Papi David Ortiz picked up 2 more hits and already has 3 RBI while Mike Napoli picked up RBI 26!

Daniel Nava came in for Shane Victorino who left with back stiffness and added 2 more hits.  If the Sox don't play him everyday, they are making a mistake!

Jed Lowrie picked up 3 more hits and Chris Young hit 2 home runs driving in 4 runs.

Andrew Bailey struck out the side to pick up save #5.

The Arizona Diamondbacks scored a run in the 8th 9th and 10th innings to beat the San Francisco Giants 3-2 in extra innings.

Brandon Crawford picked up 3 more hits, including his 5th double and 4th home run and raised his RBI total to 10.

Madison Bumgarner and Ian Kennedy combined to throw 13.1 innings allowing 9 hits and just 2 earned runs, striking out 11 batters.

Wade Davis and Max Scherzer both wish they could have their starts back but Scherzer was lucky enough to pick up his second victory.  Scherzer allowed 5 earned to Davis's 3 but the Tigers scored 7 runs on Wade in just 3.2 innings.  Mike Moustakas made a big error before it all unraveled in the 4th.

Eric Hosmer reached base 3 times, going 1 for 1 with 2 walks and 2 RBI.

Only 4 Tigers made up the teams 9 hits.  Prince Fielder went ofer with 3 walks.

Jose Valverde earned the save for the Tigers!

Matt Harvey allowed 3 earned runs over 6 innings striking out 7 Dodgers and the Mets beat the Dodgers bullpen in extra innings, on Jordany Valdespin walk off grandslam.

Brandon League blew the save in the 9th, before Josh Wall loaded them up in the 10th for Valdespin.

Ted Lilly was great over 5 striking out 7 Mets.

Matt Kemp hit his 1st home run of the season off Harvery and drove in 3 runs.

Alex Cobb smoked the Yankees as the Rays won 3-0.  Cobb allowed just 3 hits in 8.1 innings stirking out 7.  Fernando Rodney picked up save #3.

Andy Pettitte continues to pitch really well punching out 10 Rays batters in just 6 innings.

Ben Zobrist had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Desmond Jennings and Ryan Roberts each struck out 3 times.  They were the #1 and #2 hitters in the Rays lineup.

Roy Halladay pitched well again but the Phillies offense continues to struggle as the Pirates beat Philly 5-3.  Halladay surrendered just 1 run over 6 striking out 8 Bucs.

Pedro Alvarez collected 2 hits and 2 RBI, including his 4th home run.

In a game that lasted just 2:32 the Padres beat the Brewers 2-1.  Carlos Quentin hit his 1st home run.

Edinson Volquez won his first game of the season.  Huston Street picked up save #3.

Believe it or not, Yuniesky Betancourt picked up RBI #15.

Yu Darvish was wonderful, again striking out 11 Angels in a rout of Los Angeles.  The Rangers scored 11 runs, lead by Nelson Cruz and Lance Berkman who combined for 7 RBI, each hitting homers.
