Fantasy Baseball Week 3 - Preferred Pitching Matchups

Every season, fantasy owners rely on streaming starting pitching. If you don't know which pitchers will get two starts that week, you might run out of roster moves faster than you want to! We will keep you up to date on each weeks two start pitchers and break down the less popular starters we think are worth adding to your roster for the week! If you have any questions, let us know your league settings, what site you are playing on and who you would have to drop in order to add your streaming pitcher!

The Texas Rangers begin the week without a DH in Chicago as they take on the Cubs.  It will be interesting to see how Lance Berkman is used, but I have no doubt they will sit Mitch Moreland in favor of the Big Puma.  The New York Yankees host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a 3 game series, Eric Hinske and Eric Chavez should see some extra at bats this week with the DH.  The Los Angeles Dodgers will get to use a DH in Baltimore at the end of this week, but they are very limited on their bench.  Juan Uribe and Jerry Hairston should see the added at bats.

The Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, & Toronto Blue Jays play 7 games at home.

The St. Louis Cardinals spend the entire week on the road.

The Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers host 6 home games.

The Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals will play 6 times away from home.

The Kansas City Royals are the only team to play 5 games this week and they are all on the road.

Streaming Pitching
Erik Bedard - Houston Astros (Mon, April 15)
  • @ Tommy Milone - Oakland Athletics
    • Bedard is still working on going longer in games, but he has pitched well in two appearances striking out 5 over 7.2 innings.  With limited games on Monday and most starters already owned, you are limited to Joe Blanton vs Mike Pelfrey Kevin Correia (rain out) or this matchup.
Jake Westbrook - St. Louis Cardinals (Tues, April 16)
  • @ Jonathan Sanchez - Pittsburgh Pirates
    • Westbrook has looked like one of the best pitcher in baseball early on, with 15 shutout innings.  The Pirates offense is struggling and the Cardinals should beat up on Sanchez.
Bud Norris - Houston Astros (Wed, April 17)
  • @ Bartolo Colon - Oakland Athletics
    • I actually like both pitchers in this one and wouldn't mind starting either or both of them!  Obviously only 1 can get a W but Norris will rack up some K's while Colon might eat a couple more innings.
Julio Teheran - Atlanta Braves (Thurs, April 18)
  • @ Jeff Locke - Pittsburgh Pirates
    • The Braves just can't lose right now and the Pirates, though their bats might be hot, are not as good as they have been over the last couple of games.  This is a great matchup for Teheran to settle down and find himself and hopefully string together a bunch of quality starts, starting with this one.
Wandy Rodriguez - Pittsburgh Pirates (Fri, April 19)
  • vs Tim Hudson - Atlanta Braves
    • With just about all of the other starters going on Friday night, you are limited in your streaming options.  If you are desperate you can look here.  The Braves tend to strike out a bunch.
Nick Tepesch - Texas Rangers (Sat, April 20)
  • @ Brandon Maurer - Seattle Mariners
    • The Mariners scored 4 runs off Tapesch in his last start, but that is not a common occurrence for the Mariners offense.  Tapesch ability to get groundballs is key to his success.
Ervin Santana - Kansas City Royals (Sun, April 21)
  • @ Ryan Dempster - Boston Red Sox
    • Santana has gone 8 innings in his last two starts, allowing just 3 runs (2 earned).
