Saturday Starter Snags

If you read any of my posts you're clearly desperate you know I love to stream starting pitching. And while streaming usually has a one-day connotation, when it's this early in the season it is especially important because you never know who you might snag that turns out to be a season-long contributor. With that in mind, I've listed some SP going on Saturday who I recommend snagging and then keeping a close eye on, because there's a ~chance~ they might be able to help you beyond tomorrow.

Shelby Miller - 46% owned
22 years old. Throws fast. 11.1 K/9 rate in the minors. Ace potential. Even if he's a little rocky to start off, I think he could bring very nice production as the season wears on. Get him now before your opponents do.

Chris Tillman - 26% owned
Just 24 years old, Tillman pitched to a 2.93 ERA last year with 8 wins in 86 innings. He also has the backing of the mighty Chris Davis in the Orioles lineup. He has been on the DL, so maybe that has scared owners off and kept his ownership rate low, but given his 2012 numbers I think he's a great sleeper candidate this season.

Trevor Bauer - 14% owned
An injury to Scott Kazmir means Bauer will pitch tomorrow. I don't ~think~ he's in the big leagues to stay, but just in case, it's probably a good idea to get him on your roster. He'll contribute strikeouts to your streaming ways, and you can just drop him if he's sent back to AAA, but the Indians acquired this guy to contribute to the MLB team sooner rather than later, so give him a look.

Bartolo Colon - 4% owned
First of all, he faces the Astros tomorrow, so he's already a great stream candidate. Beyond that, though, he did manage 10 wins and a 3.43 ERA last season before his PED suspension. Pretty solid, right? Grab him for the Astros matchup, then consider hanging on to see what he's worth beyond that.

Remember, we're talking about streaming pitchers here, so at worst, you're just adding a guy to tack on some Ks and maybe a Win. At best, though, you may be able to snag a guy who contributes to your team all season. At the cost of just one free agency add, it's certainly worth it to get your hands on one of these guys now just in case they end up becoming trendy pickups a few weeks into the season.
