Fantasy Football - ESPN ADP Mock Draft

The first thing I did was remove Rob Gronkowski from the list as any owner in their right mind would not bother drafting him within the first 7 rounds.  That being said there are still a TON of guys that went "undrafted" in this 10 team ESPN Mock Draft based on ADP and each team drafted consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, and 1 TE.  Just a single WR and QB were drafting in the 1st round and just 2 more QBs and 3 more WRs in the 2nd.  So out of the first 20 draft picks, just 7 were not a RB.  We had one team draft two WRs (Team 7, Calvin Johson and A.J. Green), two teams draft a RB/QB combo (Team 2, Arian Foster and Peyton Manning) (Team 8, C.J. Spiller and Drew Brees), one team went QB/RB (Team 9, Aaron Rodgers and LeSean McCoy) and two teams go RB/WR (Team 1, Adrian Peterson and Brandon Marshall) (Team 5, Ray Rice and Dez Bryant).

That is going to be the norm this season, as teams are shifting to running back by committees, the stud backs are slowly diminishing!  Grab them while you can!  Don't be silly and draft your QB or WR or TE in the first two rounds!  After the jump we break down each round and discuss the MANY available QBs and WRs which will help you understand why there is no need to rush into drafting a player of that position!

Round 1: Pretty standard selections, with Megatron and Aaron Rodgers being thrown in the mix.

Round 2: Going to start with Team 7 and the 2 WRs.  There is nothing wrong with owning both Megatron and Green, but WRs RARELY win you a fantasy football trophy.  Of the four teams that drafted 2 running backs, my favorite combo is Doug Martin and Matt Forte.  Martin for obvious reasons, but Forte is said to be featured in the offense, and heavily in the passing game.  Team 10, with Richardson and Morris are the safest tandem with the highest floor yet lowest ceiling.

Round 3:  Look at the WRs available in the 3rd round!  Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas, Percy Harvin, Roddy White AND Andre Johnson.  Why waste your first two picks on one?! Also, look at what is left at the RB position, Frank Gore, Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew.

Round 4:   Cam Newton and Matt Ryan in the 4th round?  I'll take it!  Big name receivers still available in bunches!  This is why we say don't waste a pick on one early!  I am not sure I would be drafting Montee Ball just yet, but he should have some value.  It's scaring taking a rookie RB, but at least you know on Peyton Manning's Broncos, teams will have to be more concerned with the pass attack.

Rounds 5-7: This is where you find your TEs like Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten, and those veteran consistent receivers in Dwayne Bowe and Reggie Wayne. Do not use this pick on rookie WRs like Tavon Austin. It is way to early for a major risk like that.

Best of the undrafted:
Andrew Luck, Ind QB
  • I would take him over RGIII due to Griffin's injury
Tony Romo, Dal QB
  • NFL fans don't like him, but he is a great fantasy QB for those of us who want to wait for a QB
Eli Manning, NYG QB
Andy Dalton, Cin QB
Jay Cutler, Chi QB
Josh Freeman, TB QB

Darren Sproles, NO RB
  • PPR leagues can't pass him up
Reggie Bush, Det RB
  • Read Sproles
Eddie Lacy, GB RB
Chris Ivory, NYJ RB
  • Could easily rush for well over 1000 yards under Rex Ryan's "ground and pound"
Lamar Miller, Mia RB
Ahmad Bradshaw, Ind RB
Shane Vereen, NE RB
Isaiah Pead, StL RB

Anquan Boldin, SF WR
  • #1 option for a while until Michael Crabtree returns
DeSean Jackson, Phi WR
Steve Johnson, Buf WR
T.Y. Hilton, Ind WR
Miles Austin, Dal WR
  • Hasn't reached 70 receptions since the 09 season but he is still one of the better options for WR3
Mike Williams, TB WR
Jeremy Maclin, Phi WR
Lance Moore, NO WR
Sidney Rice, Sea WR
Emmanuel Sanders, Pit WR
  • Plenty of opportunities with Mike Wallace now wearing a Dolphins uniform
