Ian Kennedy Traded to San Diego Padres

Division rivals rarely make deals, especially when they are separated by just 4 games in the win column. But the San Diego Padres got the starter they needed in Ian Kennedy, in exchange for Joe Thatcher.
The Padres have bolstered their rotation for the present and future, acquiring righty Ian Kennedy from the division rival Diamondbacks for lefty reliever Joe Thatcher, Double-A reliever Matt Stites, and a compensation round B draft pick, according to a tweet from's Corey Brock. - MLBTradeRumors

Believe it or not the Diamondbacks and Padres have scored the 14th and 15th most runs in the Majors, with Arizona scoring 8 more runs, but in two less games. The Padres and Diamondbacks both do a good job of giving their starters run support, with each team having 3 of the top 25 in the National League, so the only thing really changing here for Kennedy is the ballpark. Petco Park, home to the Padres, allows the third least amount of runs so Kennedy could see his ERA drop ever so slightly. All in all, a change of scenery can't hurt the guy, but it doesn't truly make him any more valuable.
