Hefner for Hire

Jeremy Hefner started his MLB career 4-12 including 0-5 to start this season over his first 10 starts, in which the New York Mets were 0-10.  On May 20th, 2013 an EF5 Tornado ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, just a mile from the home of Hefner, a town in which he attended that same elementary school that had its roof ripped off.  Since that date, Hefner has made 8 starts, winning 3 of them and losing just 1.  Over those 49 innings pitched, Jeremy has allowed just 12 earned runs helping the Mets to a 5-3 record over said starts.  That is a 2.20 ERA for Jeremy Hefner since May 20th.

Looking back at June 3rd up until July 3rd, only Stephen Strasburg, Matt HarveyJose Fernandez, and Jeff Locke have a lower ERA, oh and Hefner is the only one of these guys to make 6 starts.  Jeremy Hefner is looking for work in fantasy baseball and is worth hiring!  He will not hurt you with WHIP as he has walked just 27 batters and allowed just 91 hits over 94 innings this season.  He does give up more home runs than you would like, but because people are rarely on base, they tend to be solo shots and only 3 since the Tornado.  Hef is owned in 3.2% of ESPN leagues, 31% owned in CBS leagues and 5% of Yahoo leagues.

As a Mets fan I never ever thought this day would come, where I would suggest adding Jeremy Hefner to your fantasy baseball team.  But having the ability to watch each and every start, he has become a completely different pitcher since those Tornadoes touched down in Moore.
