Thinking 'Bout Thursday - Patriots vs Jets

The New England Patriots should have won this game by a lot more than 3 points, but Tom Brady got no help from Aaron Dobson, despite the TD, which by the way was a beautiful play to watch unfold.  A couple drives later, Dobson dropped a pass while running towards the sideline and on the very next play, drops a deep pass that he had before falling to the ground.  There is a silver lining however, because Dobson was open all night.  Once he learns how to catch the football, he should prove to be a favorite target of, as the NFL Network broadcast like to remind us, the future hall of famer Brady.   Ok there was a lot more going on than just Dobson being DROPson, but it's fun to point blame on a rookie making his NFL debut!

Tom's stat line was brutal for fantasy football owners, completing just 19 of his 39 pass attempts for 185 yards and a single TD.  Stevan Ridley and the rest of the Patriots running backs couldn't get going either against the Jets D, as they gained just 54 yards on 24 carries.  Julian Edelman was the only Patriot worth starting this week as he caught 13 of his 18 targets!  His longest reception went just 10 yards which is why he had just 78 receiving yards, but in a PPR league, you are happy.

For the New York Jets, they seemed to have no issues running the football on Thursday Night, yet Geno Smith still attempted 35 passes!  Chris Ivory looked great picking up 52 yards on 12 carries while Bilal Powell added 48 yards on 13 carries and got into the endzone one time.  The Jets rushed the ball 32 times for 129 yards.  New York turned the ball over 4 times, with 3 interceptions thrown by Geno and one Stephen Hill fumble, that was actually kicked out of his hands.  The Jets receivers were dropping passes that should have been caught and they missed Jeremy Kerley last night.

It was a sloppy game and not much fun to watch, especially when the rain stated to come down in the second half.  But Chris Ivory looked strong, Julian Edelman proved he can be Danny Amendola until Amendola returns, and if the Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins catch the ball, Tom Brady is going to make them into big time NFL and fantasy football wide receivers!

What did you take away from Thursday Night?
