Preparing for the Fantasy Football Playoffs - Wide Receivers

Josh GordonWide Receivers have proven to be just as valuable as running backs this season, and a lot healthier too. Josh Gordon has put up 200+ yards receiving in back to back games (1st time in NFL history), and should continue to have great success catching passes, regardless of who is his QB, with the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears and New York Jets as opponents during the playoffs.

Alshon Jeffery just had his 2nd 200 yard receiving game of the season for the Chicago Bears and will get decent matchups against the Dallas Cowboys, Browns and Philadelphia Eagles. Let's not forget that Brandon Marshall also gets those matchups!

The Baltimore Ravens Torrey Smith could prove to be a huge weapon this fantasy playoffs with matchups against the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and New England Patriots.  Dwayne Bowe will also have the opportunity to put up monster numbers with games against the Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts.

As mentioned in the QB post, the New Orleans Saints will face the Carolina Panthers twice during the playoffs leaving Marques Colston, Kenny Stills and Lance Moore with two rough matchups.

There is not much out there in terms of wide receivers on waivers but if you can make a claim for Julian Edelman you should!  The Patriots WR is still Tom Brady's favorite as he has 18 catches for 211 yards and 2 TDs in the last two weeks.

Jerricho Cotchery has been on a roll catching TD in 4 straight games but I would NOT add him to my roster if I were you!  TDs are nice but are difficult to repeat week in and week out.  If he doesn't score last week, his 2 catches for 6 yards makes you look bad!

Tiquan Underwood has really made a name for himself with Mike Glennon under center in Tampa Bay.  The Buccaneers wide out has 169 yards on 6 catches with 2 TDs in the last two weeks and still has the best hair in the NFL.  Avoid in NON-PPR

Larry Fitzgerald #11Best WR with Worst Matchups

As good as Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd have been in recent weeks, their fantasy football playoff matchusp are tough.  Combined they have 34 catches for 581 yards and 6 touchdowns in the Cardinals last 3 games.  After a Week 14 game with the St. Louis Rams, Arizona will play road games in Tennessee and Seattle.

Worst WR with Best Mathcups

The Oakland Raiders leading receiver, Rod Streater, has just 43 catches for 657 and 2 TDs. Denarius Moore has 37 receptions and still leads the team in targets (74) but hasn't played since November 17th. However, he is due back for Week 14 and the Raiders get matchups with the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers this fantasy football playoffs. I am not suggestion starting either one of them but having them on your roster is not a bad idea.

PPR Only

At the beginning of the season, we questioned whether or not Brian Hartline could be a steal as a late round draft pick, in PPR leagues.  Well he proved this season to be gold and has 24 receptions for the Dolphins over Miami's last 4 contests.  On the season, he has 62 catches for 804 yards and 3 scores.  For a guy owned in just 58 % of Yahoo leagues and 34.5% ESPN he is a valuable piece that you can add for the playoff run!
