Super Bowl XLVIII - How Did We Get Here?

Since the Wildcard round of the NFL Playoffs, we have been polling our readers, asking them to pick the winners of each game. You guys went 3-2 in the AFC, thinking the Cincinnati Bengals would win at home against the San Diego Chargers, and surprisingly enough, picking against Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos, at home against Tom Brady's New England Patriots.   At just 53% of the votes, it was the toughest matchup for our readers to pick.

In the NFC, our readers went 4-1, only making the mistake of the Carolina Panthers defending their home turf against the San Francisco 49ers.  66% of voters went with the Panthers, our biggest upset, just a week after 70% of our readers picked the Niners to upset the Green Bay Packers, the highest percentage of votes in any matchup.  Then again, 66% of votes went to the Seattle Seahawks over San Fran.

We also simulated each and every game and posted the results.  In the Wildcard round, our simulations missed both AFC contests, but got the NFC games correct.  In the Divisional round simulations, we got 3 out of 4 right, with the Saints upset of the Seahawks not happening.  We then split the Conference Championships, as once again the Seahawks handled their opponent at home.  But the simulated statistics from both games were nearly spot on!
