Key to Fantasy Basketball Playoff Run

Caron Butler was recently bought out by the Milwaukee Bucks and signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It came at the right time as Thabo Sefolosha will miss the next 4-6 weeks and that means Butler could start alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. With the fantasy playoffs starting next week, I'm hoping this new addition to my team can help lead me to a championship.

Earlier in the season, along with many other fantasy basketball owners, I lost Derrick Rose and had to make some moves to fix my roster.  I was hoping he could return to MVP form after a torn ACL, only to be disappointed but not shocked when he tore his meniscus in his right knee.

I was not shocked because I knew there was a chance he could re-injure his surgically repaired left knee, but when he tore the meniscus in his right knee it was extremely disappointing because this was a completely new injury.

At the time of the injury I was in 8th place in a 14 team league, and my record was 17-19. My core players consisted of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Klay Thompson, Nikola Pekovic and Kenneth Faried. I also have some other valuable players like J.J. Hickson, Trevor Ariza, J.R. Smith and Jamal Crawford.

As soon as the injury happened I wanted a complete make over of my team and went on a rampage making several trades. A few of the trades worked out and there was one that was a complete disaster.

Completely revamping my team has payed off in a big way. I now am in 4th place as we enter the last week of the regular season and my record is 95-67. Over the past 6 weeks my team is 41-13.

All in all i traded Chris Bosh, Klay Thompson, and Nikola Pekovic and got back Greivis Vasquez, Ersan Ilyasova, Jameer Nelson, Victor Oladipo, Gerald Henderson and Marcin Gortat.

Trading Pekovic for Vasquez and Ilyasova was a big mistake. I ended up dropping both guys as Vasquez was traded to Toronto and gets limited playing time behind Kyle Lowry. At the time Ilyasova was absolutely terrible. He was dealing with an injury and shot only 30% in January and 10% from behind the arch. Pekovic missed a full month before returning from injury on March 1st, but he will be missed on my team come playoff time.

I have been extremely happy with the production I've gotten out of Gortat, Henderson, Oladipo and Nelson. Compared to what Thompson and Bosh have done since the trade, I would say that I won those trades.

One of the biggest surprises on my team is Trevor Ariza, who is owned by 55% of the top 500 Public League teams, so he's been one of the fantasy basketball MVPs this season.
