5 NBA Lottery Top Pick Scenarios

The NBA Lottery takes place tonight and will change every mock draft you have read.  Below are 5 teams with the best odds to win the Lottery, and what I think each team should do with the top pick.  Let me know if you agree or disagree in the comments!

Milwaukee Bucks

Starting 5 - Brandon Knight, O.J. Mayo, Ersan Ilyasova, John Henson, Larry Sanders
Bench Help - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Carlos Delfino, Zaza Pachulia

If the Bucks land the top pick, they need to select Andrew Wiggins

The Bucks have an NBA caliber starting 5 on paper.  Knight really improved from his days with the Detroit Pistons and made the Brandon Jennings deal worthwhile.  O.J. Mayo on the other hand was just terrible.  To solidify their backcourt, they will also need to find a veteran backup PG in free agency.

Philadelphia 76ers

Starting 5 - Michael Carter-Williams, Tony Wroten, Jason Richardson, Thaddeus Young, Nerlens Noel
Bench Help - Wroten and Richardson when the 76ers draft/sign starters

If the Sixers land the top pick, they need to pick Wiggins or Jabari Parker

Either player will start and make Philly a better team.  They should look to add a PF/C with their other lottery pick.  If they can add any combination of Wiggins/Parker and Julius Randle/Noah Vonleh/Doug McDermott/Aaron Gordon, then they will have a successful draft.  The only way they do not get a 2nd pick this year, is if the New Orleans Hornets pick lands in the top 5.

Orlando Magic

Starting 5 - Victor Oladipo, Arron Afflalo, Maurice Harkless, Tobias Harris, Nikola Vucevic
Bench Players - Andrew Nicholson, Kyle O'Quinn, Doron Lamb

If the Magic land the top draft pick, they need to pick Dante Exum or Marcus Smart.

Wiggins and Parker are better players, but unless the Magic take Jameer Nelson back for $8 mil, Oladipo or a FA signing will be the starting PG.  Afflalo should be traded and return some valuable pieces as well so who knows how the Magic want to shape the future of their organization.  That being said, when Orlando drafts again with their 2nd lottery pick, chances are Tyler Ennis won't be available.  I'd rather be guaranteed a PG.  If they can get Exum/Smart AND McDermott/Gordon then they will have done well.

Utah Jazz

Starting 5 - Trey Burke, Alec Burks, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter
Bench Players - Jeremy Evans, John Lucas, Rudy Gobert

If the Jazz land the #1 pick, they need to select Jabari Parker.

Parker allows Hayward to stay at the SG position, and moves Burks back to the bench, which makes the Jazz a better team.  With their 2nd pick late in the first round, I would like to see the Jazz go after Adreian Payne or Shabazz Napier.

Boston Celtics

Starting 5 - Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk
Bench Players - Brandon Bass, Gerald Wallace

If the Celtics land the top pick, they need to select Joel Embiid.

Boston could use Wiggins, no doubt, but there are going to be better SGs than Cs with their other 1st round pick.  Nik Stauskas, Gary Harris or even Zach LaVine combined with Embiid will be a great draft for the Celtics.
