Should You Avoid Doug Martin In 2014?

With your fantasy football drafts just around the corner as the NFL season is quickly approaching, you need to be paying attention to what team officials are saying. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers really want to use a rotation at running back this season.

Doug Martin is clearly the starter, but the Bucs have a new front office and these guys did not draft Doug Martin. However they did draft Charles Sims out of West Virginia with the 69th overall pick. Tampa also has Mike James who averaged 5 yards per carry as a rookie last year, and Bobby Rainey is also on the roster.

Martin averaged over 19 carries a game as a rookie two years ago and was seeing over 21 carries a game last year before his season came to an end, when he suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder.

With three other running backs on the roster, Martin will not be the workhorse we have seen in his short NFL career. Sims will most likely replace him on nearly every passing down and I wouldn't be surprised to see James and/or Rainey get a few carries each week.

Drafting a player who is coming off a serious injury is scary enough, but with word of a possible rotation at the position makes Martin a very questionable guy to draft this year.

What round would you consider drafting Doug Martin? Would you draft him as one of your two starting running backs? How do you feel about this whole situation? Sound off in the comment section!
