Tampa Bay Rays Trade David Price to Detroit Tigers

After what seems like years of rumors, the Tampa Bay Rays have finally agreed to trade David Price to the Detroit Tigers in a 3 team deal involving the Seattle Mariners.  Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly are on their way out of Detroit.  The Mariners will receive Jackson, and the Rays will get Nick Franklin and Smyly.  Price was the #1 overall draft pick in the 2007 amateur draft, and appeared in 5 games (1 start) during the 2008 MLB season. He has made at least 23 starts in each season there after, including this season, and in 170 starts, owns an 82-47 record with a 3.18 ERA racking up 1065 punchouts in 1143.2 innings pitched. Since that first full season in 2009, only Justin Verlander, CC Sabathia, Jered Weaver, Max Scherzer, Adam Wainwright, Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Jon Lester and Felix Hernandez have won at least 82 games. That's great company.

Price joins Verlander, Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, and Rick Porcello to form baseballs best rotation.  Price has never seen run support like he is about to receive!

Jackson is hitting .352 since the break, and should hit leadoff for the Mariners.  Looks like Torii Hunter slides over to center with Rajai Davis playing RF everyday for the Tigers.

Smyly now faces some pressure of being a top of the rotation guy that is replacing the franchise pitcher. I don't like how the season could play out for him.
