How I Acquired LeSean McCoy & Matt Forte

In my $300 buy in fantasy football league, I drafted last in a 12 man league. I went with a strategy that clearly backfired. I drafted A.J. Green and Brandon Marshall with back to back picks. Not only have the both of them dealt with injuries early on in the NFL season, but it really left me with a WEAK group of running backs. Luckily, Ahmad Bradshaw has been scoring touchdowns in the passing game for the Colts. However heading into week 7, I'm 2-4 and just a game out of the final playoff spot. With that being said I have made trades to improve my roster and I currently love where my team is at.

My Original Roster:

After RG3 went down in week 2, I had to make a move for a QB. I let the league know I was looking to trade for one and was instantly offered Tom Brady for Jason Witten (He had Colin Kaepernick as well & Dennis Pitta as his tight end). This allowed me to use Bennett without any thought.

After week 4, I dropped Nick Folk for Steven Hauschka, who was dropped because of his week 4 BYE. I also picked up the San Diego Chargers defense who played the Jaguars, Jets and Raiders in a 3 week span.

Heading into week 6, I was just 1-4. With nothing to lose and badly needing running back help, I was able to make a move for LeSean McCoy. I traded Brandon Marshall, Ben Tate and Terrance West for LeSean McCoy and Michael Crabtree.

I was also lucky enough to pick up Rueben Randle and Torrey Smith as free agents. This was before the Victor Cruz injury and Smith scoring 2 touchdowns.

So one week with my new team and Brady playing great, I was able to pick up a win and move to 2-4.

Knowing Matt Forte was available as the owner was looking for wide receiver help, I offered up A.J. Green who has been battling a toe injury all season long.

I was able to acquire Matt Forte and Larry Fitzgerald for Green, Vincent Jackson and Ahmad Bradshaw.

My New Roster:

  • Tom Brady
  • Rueben Randle
  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Matt Forte
  • LeSean McCoy
  • Martellus Bennett
  • Michael Crabtree
  • Steven Hauschka
  • San Diego Defense

That's quite an improvement in just 6 weeks!

I will do a follow up post before the fantasy football playoffs begin and let you all know how these trades worked out!
