Air It Out

  • It looked like Joe Flacco was going to set some records against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a 4 touchdown 1st quarter. However things settled down after that and Flacco would finish with 5 first half touchdowns, failing to throw another in the second half.
    • 21/29 for 306 yards with 5 touchdowns
  • Jay Cutler led all quarterbacks with 381 yards against the Atlanta Falcons. Cutler threw 1 touchdown
    • Matt Forte caught 10 passes for 77 yards. His second straight week with 10+ receptions.
  • Looks like Tom Brady is back. We saw vintage Tom Brady, as he torched the Buffalo Bills for 361 yards and 4 touchdowns.
  • Philip Rivers continues his MVP season as he was 22/34 for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns.
    • In a losing effort, Derek Carr threw for 4 touchdowns against Rivers and the San Diego Chargers
  • Kirk Cousins, Andy Dalton, Mike Glennon and Blake Bortles all threw for over 300 yards and all threw at least 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
  • Demaryius Thomas, Matt Forte, Mohamed Sanu, Cecil Shorts III, and Jace Amaro all caught 10 passes.
    • Thomas, Sanu and Amaro scored a touchdown.
  • Andre Holmes, Brandon LaFell, Torrey Smith and Julius Thomas all caught 4 passes and scored 2 touchdowns.
    • Holmes was the only one to go over the century mark, with 121 yards.
  • Steve Smith Sr. had another big week as he caught 5 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown.
  • It seems like DeSean Jackson is good for a long touchdown every week now. He scored a 64 yard touchdown and finished with 3 receptions for 115 yards.
  • Typical Jordy Nelson game - 9 catches, 107 yards and a score.
  • Jordan Cameron caught a long touchdown from Brian Hoyer (51 yards) and finished with 3 grabs and 102 yards.
  • Malcolm Floyd went over the century mark with 5 receptions, 103 yards and a touchdown.

Ground and Pound

  • LeSean McCoy still proving why he's the best running back in the game. He torched the New York Giants for 149 yards on 22 carries.
  • Thanks to a huge 89 yard touchdown and some extra carries in an overtime tie, Giovani Bernard ran for 137 yards on 18 carries.

  • It doesn't matter who the defense is, DeMarco Murray is going to run for over 100 yards and score a touchdown. That's exactly what he did against the Seattle Seahawks - 29 carries 115 yards and a TD.
  • Justin Forsett only needed 14 carries to run for 111 yards against the Bucs.
  • Wait isn't Cam Newton a QB? He had the 5th most rushing yards on Sunday. Newton not only threw for 284 yards but he ran for 107 on 17 attempts. He also ran one in from 12 yards out.
  • Branden Oliver and Ronnie Hillman, two big waiver pick ups this week just reached the century mark. Oliver ran for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Hillman ran for 100 but did not find paydirt.
  • Ben Tate and Matt Forte each scored 2 touchdowns on the ground.

Defense Wins Championships

  • Well the Minnesota Vikings are becoming a joke and the Detroit Lions took complete advantage. The Lions held the Vikings to just 3 points and they sacked Teddy Bridgewater 8 times and picked him off 3 times.
  • It was an awful day for the New York Giants. Not only did they lose Victor Cruz for the year but the Eagles defense was in shutdown mode. The Eagles shut the Giants out, sacked Eli Manning 8 times and recovered a fumble.
  • Despite allowing 20 points against the Washington Redskins, the Arizona Cardinals still recorded 2 sacks, 3 interceptions, a fumble recovery and scored a touchdown.
  • The Titans had the privilege of playing the win-less Jacksonville Jaguars, and allowed just 14 points, while sacking Blake Bortles 6 times and recorded an interception, a fumble recovery and blocked kick.
  • A day when the Denver Broncos offense wasn't firing on all cylinders, it was the defense that stepped up. The Broncos allowed 17 points, sacked Geno Smith 4 times, recorded a fumble recovery and a pick-6.
  • The New England Patriots defense allowed 22 points against the Buffalo Bills, and recorded 5 sacks and 3 takeaways.
