Astros Trade Dexter Fowler to Cubs

The Houston Astros have agreed to trade Dexter Fowler to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for starter Dan Straily and Luis Valbuena.  Does that mean Kris Bryant starts the season as the Cubs 3B?! The Astros acquired Fowler last year for Jordan Lyles and Brandon Barnes.  Fowler hit above his career average (.271) last season with a .276 average and hit 21 doubles in 116 games for the Astros.  He has only played in 140 games once in his career.  He will join a crowded outfield in Chicago, which will create deep league fantasy headaches.

Arismendy Alcantara will give way in CF to Fowler, and with Chris Coghlan and Jorge Soler to man the corner, there could be plenty of platoon opportunities with Chris Denorfia and Ryan Sweeney also on the roster.

The Astros will likely give CF duties to Jake Marisnick, who was acquired last season from the Miami Marlins in the Jarred Cosart deal.  George Springer could play some CF as well.

Houston recently acquired Evan Gattis in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, and the only way to play Chris Carter, Jon Singleton and Gattis at the same time is to bench Jason Castro or let Gattis play LF.

Straily joins a weak Astros rotation that features Scott Feldman, Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Brett Oberholtzer and Jake Buchanan.  Houston added to tits bullpen this offseaosn with Pat Neshek and Luke Gregerson.
