Nationals Sign Max Scherzer for 7 Years

The Washington Nationals and Max Schezer have agreed to a 7 year contract.

Adding Scherzer to Stephen Strasburg, Doug Fister, Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez and Tanner Roark easily gives the Nats the best starting rotation in the MLB.  Rumor has it that Zimmermann is on the trading block now.

Scherzer is entering his 8th MLB season, after spending the last 5 as a member of rhe Detroit Tigers. He was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks after just 37 starts across two seasons.  He was part of the 3 team deal that saw Curtis Granderson go to the Yankees, Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson to the Diamondbacks and Scherzer, Phil Coke and Austin Jackson to Tigers.

Only Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw have won more games than Scherzer since the 2010 season.

A move back to the National League should help boost Scherzer to the top of the fantasy baseball rankings.
