Fantasy Baseball Outfielders to Target

Outfielders can dominate the top of many fantasy drafts, but owners also need to fill in their third, fourth, and fifth OF positions without losing ground in the standings. These Outfielders have certain skills to help owners in Roto leagues, Points leagues, and H2H leagues.

Kole Calhoun is playing in Mike Trout's shadow, but he can help all fantasy teams in 2015. His ability to hit line drives, 24% in 2014, and his consistent HR production will lead to another $20 season. If Calhoun can raise his OBP, .326 last year, then owners may see a few more SB's this year. (If he can improve on his 5/8 SB success rate) Calhoun could hit a few more fly balls in 2015, which will lead to a few more homers than the 18 HR he hit last year. (32% fly-ball rate) Calhoun will provide second-third tier production in points leagues, and his consistent week-to-week production will help H2H owners.

We Ranked Calhoun 29th in our OF Rankings

Jorge Soler's power showed in his 2014 debut with the Cubs. His patience at the plate, shown through his 10% walk-rate last year, will help him in his first full season. He may not keep up the quick power pace, 5 homers in 97 AB, but his power will lead to 20 HR's in 500 AB. Other owners will pay more for Wil Myers, but Soler will outperform Myers in 2015. His home park and his power will give owners a .270 hitter with 20 HR's and 85 RBI's between picks 170-180. Draft him in all keeper leagues.

We Ranked Soler 38th in our OF Rankings

Oswaldo Arcia is one more name to target late in a draft or for $10-15 in an auction. His 20 HR's, for the Twins last year, will lead to more power for fantasy owners in 2015. He needs to make more contact with the ball, .231 BAvg for MIN, to improve his fantasy value. Pay for the power now, 20-25 HR's this year, and hope that he takes more walks and makes more contact. He will hurt H2H owners with his inconsistency, but he is a great target in keeper leagues because he is only 23 years old.

We Ranked Arcia 61st in our OF Rankings

Steven Souza will not draw much praise from other owners at your league's draft, but he could provide 15/15 production in 2015. The trade to Tampa will help him secure more counting statistics for Fantasy and Roto owners, while his .432 OBP for AAA-Syracuse will boost teams in points leagues. He may not match his 18 HR and 26 SB in 407 AB in AAA, but he should reach 15 HR and 15 SB this year, which will include a .270 average and close to a .350 OBP. Souza will make a nice addition as a third or fourth OF in many leagues this year.

We Ranked Souza 76th in our OF Rankings

There is plenty of value in the OF, and these four names will help fantasy owners with power, a mix of power and speed, and upside.
