Minnesota Vikings Trade Matt Cassel to Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have acquired QB Matt Cassel in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings.  Yesterday, Buffalo acquired LeSean McCoy from Philly.  Cassel will have a nice receiving corp to throw to, led by Sammy Watkins.  However, with Rex Ryan and Greg Roman runnings things, he might struggle to see 128 targets again.

When Cassel last played an entire season, he threw for more than 3,000 yards, completed 58% of his passes and tossed 27 touchdowns.  However, that was 2010 with Kansas City Chiefs.  He has since spent 4 seasons struggling to play 10 games in a season, and the last two with the Vikings have have seen him throw just 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions over 12 games.  He does not throw the deep ball and is more of a game manager, and I would hate to own Watkins in dynasty fantasy football, and will probably not target him in redrafts.  However, Dwayne Bowe did catch 72 passes for 1162 yards and 15 touchdowns that year!

Last year, they traded their 1st round pick and this years 1st round pick to the Cleveland Browns in order to draft Watkins.  It would behoove them to give him an their fans a QB who can get use his abilities and get him the ball deep down the field!

The Bills spent a 1st round pick (16th overall) on EJ Manuel back in 2013 yet turned to Kyle Orton last season.  Cassel will prevent Manuel from seeing the field as long as he is not turning the ball over.  Cassel will be 33 before the 2015 NFL season kicks off.

In our mock draft prior to the NFL Combine, we had the Browns (via Bills) selecting Vic Beasley.  Would have been a nice replacement for Kiko Alonso!

Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater had a great finish to his rookie campaign, that did not include Adrian Peterson!
