Giving you my top plays at various price points each week this season. The title is DFS Fives, so I will give you a 5 player list at QB, RB, WR, and FLEX.

  1. Sam Bradford (GoDraft $15,500, DK $6,900) Vegas has this spread as the highest point total of the week.  Bradford has been real good in the preseason and he has weapons everywhere on the field.  Defenses just can’t duplicate that offensive speed in practice so Atlanta is in trouble.  I expect the Philly offense to run more plays than any other offensive unit in Week 1 and be very efficient.  In a GPP or cash, if you like the stack you can go Bradford with Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, or Darren Sproles (cheap).
  2. Tyrod Taylor (GoDraft $10,500, DK $5,000) As Coach Ryan says “It all comes down to explosiveness…” Taylor will be highly owned in GPPs but a safe play because of his rushing yards.  He allows you to pay up at other positions because of his comfortable salary and upside potential.  Buffalo figures to play conservatively so that could limit his chances.
  3. Matt Ryan (GoDraft $16,100 , DK $7,500) Ryan is a top talent with a top notch matchup.  Philly plays fast on offense which means Atlanta will get a ton of plays also.  Ryan has Julio Jones who should also have a huge game but a sneaky stack could be with WR Leonard Hankerson (cheap). Vegas is projecting 3 TDs for Atlanta and with a risky RB group behind him Matt Ryan could be in for a huge game.
  4. Eli Romo (GoDraft $16,000/$15,900, DK $7,300/$7,400) WHAT? Yes, I picked 2 guys at this spot.  Eli Manning and Tony Romo both have huge upside matchups.  Both defenses are banged up, new, and have inefficient coverage units.  The Dallas RB situation is a mess.  The Giants offensive line is a mess.  Both QBs have a stud WR to throw to on the outside.  You can take your pick but the game is in Dallas and these Cowboys are favored in Vegas.
  5. Jay Cutler (GoDraft $14,500, DK $6,800) Be contrarian with Cutler.  They play GB who should put up points.  Chicago will be playing from behind and Cutler has weapons.  Keep an eye on Alshon Jeffery but if he’s out this Cutler pick is even more contrarian.  Forte always catches a few balls out of the backfield and a nice stack with either TE Martellus Bennett or WR Eddie Royal could pay dividends.

  1. Lamar Miller (GoDraft $12,500, DK $5,500) Miller has talent and has no threat to his touches. I project 25 touches in Week 1 running and catching the ball.  Miami is in the 2nd year of this offensive system and they want to play fast which means they will run more plays than most other teams.  Miller can easily go for a TD or two with a good matchup vs Washington.  I also see Miami getting out to an early lead and Miller can get a bunch of late touches running the ball.
  2. Doug Martin (GoDraft $10,900, DK $4,500) All reports out of TB are that Martin is quick and elusive.  TB is favored in this game so from a game script perspective they can comfortably give Martin 20 to 25 touches in this game.
  3. Chris Ivory (GoDraft $6,900, DK $4,100) Value, Value, Value!!!  Ivory looked good in the preseason.  At this price point I love his upside.  Should get 15 to 20 carries.  Zac Stacy will get a few carries also. Being the Jets are favored the game script works in favor of the running game.
  4. Benny Cunningham (GoDraft $6,000, DK $3,000) In a three horse backfield with the other two horses hurt this Cunningham play makes sense.  He will be used early and often.  He was held out of the 4th preseason game with the anticipation he would have a huge workload for Week 1 with the injuries to Tre Mason and Todd Gurley.  Monitor the injury news but Cunningham should she all the work in this home game.
  5. Isaiah Crowell (GoDraft $6,900, DK $4,600) After the trade of West I see another opportunity to get lots of touches for Crowell.  The best part is he is the unquestioned goal line back in Cleveland.  He’ll be a three down back Week 1.

  1. A.J. Green (GoDraft $13,900, DK $7,800) Glad to see AJ healthy.  He should see double digit targets so plug him and hope for TDs.
  2. John Brown (GoDraft $6,700, DK $4,500) He is fast and Carson Palmer loves to throw the deep ball.  I guess they hook up at least once vs a terrible New Orleans secondary with lots of injuries.
  3. Davante Adams (GoDraft $4,600, DK $4,400) He will be the highest owned WR for Week 1.  He assumes the outside spot vacated by the Jordy Nelson injury.  Everyone is predicting a breakout year so fade at your own risk. Best value on GoDraft.
  4. Stevie Johnson (GoDraft $4,600, DK $3,700) In SD he moves into the slot position and I expect him to lead the team in targets.  I hope he gets in the end zone and he’ll be a slam dunk.
  5. Steve Smith (GoDraft $7,300, DK $6,400) My WR contrarian play for the week is a solid veteran who should see a ton of targets.  Baltimore has injuries to key vertical weapons so I expect Joe Flacco to find Smith.  Baltimore should be playing from behind and be forced to score in Denver plays the way we know they can so get Smith in your GPP lineups.

  1. Eddie Royal (GoDraft $8,500, DK $3,900) He is one of my top plays this week.  He should see a ton of targets.  He knows Cutler well.  Chicago will be playing from behind so game script says Chicago will throw the ball.
  2. Martellus Bennett (GoDraft $11,900, DK $4,300) He led all TEs in receptions last year.  Red Zone threat for Chicago and Jeffrey is banged up.
  3. Owen Daniels (GoDraft $8,400 , DK $3,400) Being Peyton Manning’s TE should pay dividends for Daniels.  Cheap and should see red zone targets.
  4. Jonathan Stewart (GoDraft $11,400, DK $5,800) Carolina is favored in this game and has inexperience at WR.  Greg Olsen should get lots of targets.  I see Stewart getting 20 to 25 touches and if the game script plays out according to Vegas I see Stewart getting late touches.
  5. Richard Rodgers (GoDraft $4,400 , DK $2,500) This TE is intriguing in season long and daily fantasy.  He should be a red zone target and comes dirt cheap.
