With the 22nd pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls drafted Arkansas PF Bobby Portis.
Surprised Bobby Portis fell. Does everything well. No huge holes. Amazing motor. Love the pick for the Bulls.— Chad Ford (@chadfordinsider) June 26, 2015
This despite already having Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson on the roster. Noah is heading into free agency after this season, Gasol has a $7 mil player option and Gibson will make almost $9 mil next season. With nearly $30 mil committed to the front court, the Bulls have a rookie whose play is demanding an expanding role.
Portis has only appeared in six of the Bulls 26 games this season, but he recently posted 20 points and 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes!
Bulls are very high on Portis & you can see why. An active 6-11 PF-C who can shoot 3's. Could force his way into rotation. #FreeBobbyPortis— Mark Schanowski (@MarkSchanowski) December 20, 2015
Noah is battling a shoulder injury and if this prevents him from playing, Portis is a must own in fantasy basketball. Owners are already taking notice as Portis is 21% owned in Yahoo leagues vs Gibson who is 17% owned.
Long term, Portis will be hard to keep rostered, but every time a Bulls forward suffers an injury, Bobby Portis gets freed!
