Braves Trade Shelby Miller to Diamondbacks

The MLB Winter Meetings were very productive today. The Yankees acquired Starlin Castro, Cubs signed Ben Zobrist and now the Diamondbacks have acquired Shelby Miller in a trade with the Atlanta Braves. Remember, the Braves traded Jason Heyward last Winter to acquire Miller from the Cardinals.  Miller will join Zack Greinke and Patrick Corbin at the top of Arizona's rotation.

The DBacks had to cough up the top pick in last years draft SS Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte and Aaron Blair to acquire Miller.

Miller finished with an ugly 6-17 record on a terrible Braves team.  After starting the season 5-1, Miller did not lose his 2nd game until May 28th and did not win his 5th game until his final start on October 4th!  Miller is going to be fine in Arizona and will be a solid fantasy option.

The Braves are left with Julio Teheran, Matt Wisler, Manny Banuelos, Bud Norris and someone else in their rotation.

Inciarte just turned 25 and is a career .292 hitter in 952 career ABs.  He will get everyday playing time in Atlanta and hit leadoff for the Braves.  Solid fantasy player in 2016, capable of 30 doubles, stealing 20 bases and goes from hitting in front of Paul Goldschmidt to having a chance to score runs thanks to the bat of Freddie Freeman.

Yasmany Tomas could get to play a full season now, with A.J. Pollock and David Peralta in the OF.
