All-Star Break Update - 2016 Fantasy Baseball First Base Rankings

Update (7/11)

Prince Fielder was most likely drafted as a starting 1B in 12 team leagues, and has been a huge disappointment.  A career ,283 hitter, Fielder is batting just .216 with just eight home runs in 315 ABs.  We are talking about a guy who has yet to hit less than 23 home runs in any full season he has played.  Should we have seen this decline coming? Fielder hit .264 with 9 home runs after the All-Star game last year (277 ABs).

Both the New York Yankees and Mets have been without their staring 1B for most of the year.  Mark Teixeira missed most of June, while Lucas Duda has not played since May 20th.  If both of these guys can stay healthy after the break, they can provide fantasy baseball owners with some power and are worth a stash if you had a spot.

Heating Up

Daniel Murphy has killed the Mets this year, with seven HRs and 21 RBI in 52 ABs!  This weekend he hit three homers and two doubles, driving in 10 runs during the four game series.

Wil Myers, Mark Trumbo and Mike Napoli have been the most valuable picks, when looking at ADP.  Myers was drafted in just 90% of Yahoo leagues, and in the 23rd round to boot.  Trumbo & Napoli were going three rounds earlier, but Napoli was only drafted in 4% of Yahoo leagues!  Along with Murphy and Edwin Encarnacion, they are the only 1B to have scored 10+ runs while picking up 10+ RBI, over the last 14 days.
