Dynasty and Chill Fantasy Football Draft Update

Dynasty Fantasy Football IDP Draft Recap
We are now in the 6th round of a slow fantasy football draft via

As a reminder, this is a 32 team, full IDP, startup Dynasty league, that will draft all rookies, once we complete the NFL Draft.

The Arizona Cardinals lead with nine players drafted, followed by the Bucs, Vikings, Lions and  Bengals with seven players each.

Just about every other NFL team has between four and six players selected, but the Falcons, Ravens, 49ers have just three, while the Cowboys and Browns have the least amount of players owned, with just two.

I was a bit surprised to see Tannehill go that early, as well as Osweiler fall, but I understand that he is high risk high reward.

League owners realy took this Dynasty thing seriously, drafting young guys like Parker, Benjamin and Moncrief ahead of all those veterans.

Decker could be an absolute steal if the Jets get their QB situation figured out.  Fantasy football owners tend to undervalue Decker each and every summer in drafts.

If Barnidge can put up similar numbers to last year, he could outperform many of the TEs drafted ahead of him.

I chose to pick late in the first round (24th) in order to pick fairly early in the second round. My goal was to get two receivers who are the top receiver for their team. In a 32 team league, not many will have that luxury. Sammy Watkins and T.Y. Hilton weren't exactly the two I had hoped for, but I think they give me a solid base to build from.

In the third round, I went quarterback with Philip Rivers. All 32 starting quarterbacks will be drafted fairly early and I wanted to make sure I got one with job security.  From a dynasty standpoint, Rivers isn't young, but I think he has a few very productive years ahead of him. I expect this year to be very good, if his receivers stay healthy.

Most IDP leagues I have played in favor the linebackers and that is the position I target first usually.  Looking at how points are scored in this league and the requirement to start two defensive ends, I decided I wanted at least one dominant pass rushing end.  My fourth round pick, Calais Campbell won't lead the lead in sacks, but I expect him to score in the top 10 consistently.

I knew I was going to target linebacker in the fifth, unless I saw an extreme value elsewhere. Kwon Alexander and Jordan Hicks are two young linebackers I like and I thought they might be available.  Alexander went well before my pick and I feared Hicks would too, so I made (in my opinion) a bold move and traded my 6th round pick and my first pick next season, to get an extra fifth round pick to take Hicks.  If my team has a good season and my pick next year is near the end of the first round, I don't think I will regret the trade.  With my other fifth rounder I was able to fill my defensive tackle slot with Ndamukong Suh. Last season, there were five tackles that scored really well and then there was a big drop off to the sixth one. Suh finished 4th and many people thought he had a disappointing year.  I'm hoping the additional defensive players Miami added, as well as a new coaching staff, will lead to him being even more disruptive.- Arizona Quints @KjHawkey
