Diamondbacks Place Zack Greinke On The DL

Zack Greinke DL Fantasy Baseball

The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed pitcher Zack Greinke on the 15-day DL with a left oblique strain. This move is retroactive to June 29th.

Greinke will be eligible to return immediately after the all-star break but there is no word yet on whether or not he'll be healthy enough for that.

After signing a 6-year deal worth $206.5 million, Greinke got off to a slow start, going 2-2 with a 5.50 ERA over his first six starts. Greinke has turned his season around and is currently 10-3 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.

Zack Godley will replace Greinke in the Diamondbacks rotation.

The team will really need Shelby Miller to step up and be the type of pitcher they thought he was when they traded Ender Inciarte, Aaron Blair and Dansby Swanson to get him. Miller is just 2-8 with a 6.85 ERA this year.

Arizona ranks 26th in team pitching with a 4.64 ERA.
