Yoenis Cespedes Returns to Mets

The New York Mets and Yoenis Cespedes have agreed on a new deal that will bring the Cuban All-Star OF back to Queens for 4 more years.  The deal is worth $110 mil.

In 189 games with the Mets, Cespedes owns a .282 BA, with 72 doubles and 66 home runs, racking up 130 RBI.

As a Mets fan this is great news.  Jay Bruce is still in town, as is Curtis Granderson, each with one year left of their contracts.  Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo are still developing but will hopefully turn out to be quality players and fill in the vacant OF position in the future.

Juan Lagares was signed to an extension through 2019 and will be an expensive bench player but an important one as he is the Gold Glover.

As it stands, the Mets will always be dependent on their pitching staff staying healthy.  Bartolo Colon has moved on to the Atlanta Braves, Zack Wheeler hasn't pitched since 2014, while Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and Steven Matz are recovering from injuries suffered this past year.  Noah Syndergaard is the Ace of the staff and will be in a rotation that will rely on Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo again.
