NFL Wild Card - Packers vs Giants - Madden Simulation

On the Giants opening drive, on a 3rd down, Eli Manning throws an interception.  John Ryan made the play on a pass targeting Odell Beckham.

On the Packers first possession Jonathan Hankins and Olivier Vernon combine on a sack of Aaron Rodgers, forcing a packers punt.

After dropping a first down pass, Beckham beat Demarious Randall down the right sideline, catching the ball at his own 35 yard line and winning a foot race to the end zone. The Giants take a 7-0 lead.

On 3rd and 6 from New York's 38, Green Bay ran a screen pass to Ty Montgomery who came up a yard short, setting up a Mason Crosby 51 yard field goal.  This cut the Giants lead to four, 7-3. That score was set up with completions to Richard Rodgers, Jared Cook, Geronimo Allison. Jordy Nelson and Montgomery.

On 2nd down, Mike Daniels sacked Eli Manning for a 7 yard loss, setting up a 3rd and 17 with a minute remaining in the 1st quarter. Kenny Clark made it back to back sacks and the Giants were forced to punt on 4th and 24 from their own 11 yard line.

Starting from the Giants 37 yard line, the Packers faced 3rd and 1 to start the 2nd quarter from the Giants 17. Aaron Ripkowski was able to convert, which led to an easy 15 yard touchdown pass to a wide open Geronimo Allison in the corner of the end zone. Packers lead 10-7.

On 3rd and 11, Manning and Beckham hooked up on a 70 yard score.  This was a free play thanks to a defensive holding.   Beckham was lined up in the slot covered by Jake Ryan and was just out of the reach of a diving Morgan Burnett in a last ditch effort to take down the Giants receiver.

The Giants were back on top 14-10 early in the 2nd quarter.

First play of the ensuing drive, Rodgers rolled out right and hit Jordy Nelson on a 25 yard pass near the sideline. On a 3rd down from midfield, Eli Apple sacked Rodgers but got called for a 15 yard face mask penalty. That penalty led to a 45 yard Christine Michael touchdown run to the right side, breaking a Janoris Jenkins tackle near the line of scrimmage.

The Packers regain the lead 17-14.

After forcing a Giants punt, the Packers were back on offense and Rodgers found Nelson in one on one coverage with DRC and they connected on a 30 yard completion.  However, the Giants defense finally made a stop and forced the Packers to punt, but were pinned inside their 10.

Right before the two minute warning, Paul Perkins picked up 20 yards running left.

New York would punt, giving Rodgers one more chance to put points on the board before halftime but they couldn't get anything going running the 2 minute offense and ended up running the clock out.  Green Bay would get the ball to start the 2nd half with a lead.

The Giants forced a three and out to start the half and had a nice drive moving down the field, before Eli threw an ugly pass that was picked off in the red zone. This time, Randall redeemed himself with the interception after getting burned by OBJ earlier.

After completing a couple passes to Nelson, Rodgers handed it off to Riptowski from the 2 yard line for a Packers touchdown to take a 24-14 lead late in the 3rd.

For the 3rd time in the game, Manning hooked up with Beckham on a LONG touchdown. This one going for 74 yards! This time it was Gunter getting burned down the left sideline. That was catch # 4 for 236 yards and 3 scores.

On the final play of the 3rd quarter, Romeo Okwara recorded the Giants first sack of the game.  Green Bay had just picked up a first down on a Ty Montgomery screen pass.  The next play, Keenan Robinson picked off Aaron Rodgers who was looking for Jordy Nelson.  The Giants took over on the Packers 29, down four points.

On 3rd and goal from the 1 yard line, Rashad Jennings scored a touchdown, giving the Giants the lead.  This was the fifth lead change of the game.  The Giants ran the ball five times on that drive from 29 yards out.

With 3 minutes left in the game, the Packers were forced to punt on 4th down.

The 2 minute warning came with the Giants facing a 3rd and 2.  Manning hit Beckham on a quick short pass to pick up a first down and forced the Packers to use their timeouts.

Green Bay came up with a big third down stop, but with no time outs the Giants ran the clock down to one minute.

Rodgers needed to go 80 yards with no timeouts to beat New York. Jared Cook was the target on a 1st down pass, but Robinson was able to tip the ball up into the air and Landon Collins was able to catch it and seal the victory for the Giants - 28-24.
