Fantasy Football ADP vs Rank

Please take a moment to watch and pay close attention to the video above and listen to what Pat Mayo and Garion Thorne have to say about how rankings should be made and used.

Using FantasyPros consensus PPR rankings and FantasyFootballCalculator PPR ADP, we present the most over/under valued players inside the first 100 picks.

It makes sense that the top 6 overvalued players are all running backs.  The position is losing all its workhorses and owners feel the need to reach for one to fill their starting lineup.  But right now, Doug Martin is going 54 picks ahead of his 108 ranking.  That means the "experts" have declared Martin a late 8th/early 9th round pick, but fantasy owners are selecting him in the middle of the 4th round in 12 team leagues!

Let another owner reach for the Bucs RB and with the next pick, go grab Packers Ty Montgomery or Bengals rookie Joe Mixon.  TyMo is currently getting selected right around his ranking at pick 57 while the rookie is ranked even higher and is being undervalued by about a round.

You could even go ahead and grab Andrew Luck at this point and wait for Bilal Powell in the next round.

We touched on most of the other overvalued RBs in a previous blog post.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, four of the 5 most undervalued players are WRs:
Hate on Garcon all you want, but he has the 20th most receptions among WR in the NFL since the start of the 2014 NFL season.  He has the 7th best catch% among that grouping and although a 7.79 yards per target is not all that impressive, it's better than Jordan Matthews,Larry Fitzgerald, Jarvis Landry, Brandon Marshall, Julian Edelman, Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree.

Garcon is ranked as a low end WR3 but his stock has risen out of the 11th round in May to the 9th round here in June.

Of the 11 QBs being drafted in the top 100 picks, Raiders Derek Carr is the most overvalued while Seahawkws Russell Wilson is the most undervalued.

Carr is the 12th ranked QB (95th overall), yet has an ADP of 72 - 23 picks above his ranking.

Wilson is the the 5th ranked QB (86th overall), yet has an ADP of 68 - 18 picks below his ranking.

There are 10 TEs off the board in the first 100 picks and all of them are picked within a round of their ranking.  Kyle Rudolph has the best value, being ranked 80th with an ADP of 91 while Hunter Henry's ADP of 96 is a slight reach with an overall ranking of 106.

My advice to you is skip over Hunter Henry and wait for Zach Ertz or Eric Ebron.  The TE position is deep and difference between the #5 and #12 TE is not worth a mid-round pick.

It appears we, the fantasy football community, have really figured out how to value the TE position properly.
