Titans Sign Eric Decker

The Tennessee Titans and WR Eric Decker have agreed to a one year deal.  Coming off an injury plagued season, Decker proved that he is a very talented player during his time with the New York Jets.  He left a Denver Broncos team that had Peyton Manning at QB to join a Jets franchise that doesn't know what a QB is.  Despite catching passes from Geno Smith, Michael Vick & Ryan Fitzpatrick, Decker averaged 77 receptions, 994 yards and 8.5 TDs in two full seasons, prior to last year.

Decker has shown he can be a serious red zone threat and in 2015 was 2nd in the NFL in RZ targets with 28 and caught 10 of his 12 TDs in the RZ.  This could be the perfect fit as Marcus Mariota led the NFL in completions percentage inside the 10 yards line, at 69.5%.  Aaron Rodgers was next at 67.4%, but he did have twice as many attempts.

The Titans led the NFL in red zone touchdown percentage at 72% in 2016.  That was an NFL best since the 2013 Denver Broncos.

When the Titans drafted Mariota with the 2nd pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, this is what their WR Depth Chart looked like on week 1:
They kicked off the 2016 season by adding Rishard Matthews and Andre Johnson via free agency and drafted Tajae Sharpe.  The Titans front office also dealt DGB to the Eagles for OL Dennis Kelly.

With this improved group of receivers and 12 starts under his belt, Mariota improved in 2016, throwing for 3426 yards, 26 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Management continues to surround Mariota with talented players, drafting Corey Davis in the 1st round, 5th overall, of this year draft and now adding Decker.  All of these weapons are in addition to DeMarco Murray & Derrick Henry in the backfield and Delanie Walker at the TE position.  This could be a huge year for Mariota!
