What I Missed While I Was Gone

Koko Head Crater Trail Summit
Last Friday I boarded a plane headed for Hawaii. Today, I am headed back to the mainland. In between, a LOT happened.

Not only did we visit Pearl Harbor, hike Diamond Head & Koko Head on Oahu, but we got to explore the Big Island and visit Volcano National Park - LAVA! - check out the Akaka Falls, taste 100% Kona Coffee and visit a local Honey Farm.  On top of all that, we got to put our toes in Green and Black sand beaches on the same day!

All the while, the following news was breaking...

The New York Jets made a blockbuster trade with the Indianapolis Colts to acquire the 3rd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. They will be able to pick from whats left of Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield. It is quite possible the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants both select QBs with the top two picks. The Jets also re-signed QB Josh McCown, and added Isaiah Crowell and Terrelle Pryor to their roster.
The Oakland Raiders cut Michael Crabtree to clear cap space and signed Jordy Nelson. The Baltimore Ravens, who are desperate for productive WRs, jumped all over the opportunity to sign Crabtree to a 3 year contract. We will find out if Joe Flacco has anything left in the tank, now that he has a legit WR1. Former Ravens WR Mike Wallace signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, and is a huge upgrade over Torrey Smith (traded to Panthers) as the deep threat.

March Madness

UMBC became the first 16 seed in Tournament history to win, beating Virginia. That started a flurry of upsets, leading to Kansas St vs Loyola-Chicago, in the first ever 9 vs 11 matchup! One of these school will play in the Final Four!

The Minnesota Twins lost SS Jorge Polanco for 80 games, due to a positive steroid test. The Los Angeles Dodgers saw Justin Turner get hit by a pitch and break his wrist, while the San Francisco Giants lost starting pitchers Madison Bumgarner and Jeff Samardzija! The Atlanta Braves will start the season Ronald Acuna in the Minor Leagues.
