Dynasty and Chill Fantasy Football Rookie Draft Recap

For us, it was easy - draft linebackers! It has always been one of our weakest positions (despite having Myles Jack), with wide receiver being the other one. Without a first round pick, targeting a WR was difficult.

However, this was a defensive heavy class with some nice potential at the LB position and we wanted to take full advantage.

Five of our six draft picks were LBs:
  • Germaine Pratt - Bengals
  • Cody Barton - Seahawks
  • Sione Takitaki - Browns
  • Ulysees Gilbert - Steelers
  • Dakota Allen - Rams
We also needed to find a potential replacement for Tom Brady at QB, and think Ryan Finley has a real chance to supplant Andy Dalton in Cincinnati.

As a rebuilding team with little to no talent at youth, I've traded the vast majority of my stakes to get this and future year picks. I had two first round picks, and spent them on Josh Jacobs at 1.01, and Ed Oliver at 1.26. Jacobs was IMO an easy pick. While a DT is considered a reach at 1.26, I firmly believe this is a generational talent that could easily be a high end producer for the long term. -@Phinphan54
For 2 out of the past 3 years now, I’ve been the first player to go to the defensive side of the ball. Three years ago I took Myles Garrett around pick 10 and this year I took Devin White at 1.13. After the first 10 picks or so, I feel like a lot of the offensive players are really 50/50 so I try to lock in a surefire star on the defensive end. For me, Devin White and Devin Bush were a toss up, but eventually landed on White.

In the second and third rounds, I threw some darts at Tony Pollard and Scotty Miller. I think Pollard in general is being overlooked in dynasty and redraft. All beat reports out of Dallas are that the coaches were sky high on him going into the draft and he’s the primary handcuff for Zeke who as we saw with the Vegas incident can find himself in hot water quickly.

Scotty Miller may have been a reach on my part in the third but after hearing Jameis gush about him on the Adam Schefter pod, I was all in on getting Miller. I didn’t want to wait a round and lose him. I’ll be watching preseason closely to see if Miller can beat out Breshad Perriman and Justin Watson for snaps this season. -@Blair_Ames
